According to statistics from Wuhan Customs, the value of automobile exports (including chassis) from Hubei Province in the first quarter reached 7.61 billion yuan, marking an increase of 88.6% year-on-year. Among these exports, 5.69 billion yuan was exported to countries jointly participating in the Belt and Road Initiative, representing a 75.5% year-on-year increase and becoming a significant driver of foreign trade growth.
According to statistics from Wuhan Customs, the value of automobile exports (including chassis) from Hubei Province in the first quarter reached 7.61 billion yuan, representing an increase of 88.6% year-on-year. Among them, exports to countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative amounted to 5.69 billion yuan, marking a 75.5% year-on-year increase and becoming a significant driver of foreign trade growth.
What is particularly eye-catching is the continuous surge in the "electricity content" of automobile exports. In the first quarter, the export value of electric passenger cars from Hubei reached 4.32 billion yuan, a surge of 140% year-on-year, and its proportion in the total automobile export value increased to nearly 60%. The "Made in Hubei" automobiles with high added value and high technological content are accelerating towards the global market.
Behind the rapid growth of exports lies the strong support of efficient and stable international logistics corridors. In the first quarter, the "Dongfeng Special Train" operated steadily, transporting a total of about 2,100 Dongfeng automobiles, ensuring timely delivery of overseas orders for key enterprises.
To break through the "choke points" in land transportation, Hanyang Customs took the initiative to facilitate cooperation between the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone Free Trade Zone and the Alataw Pass Free Trade Zone in Xinjiang, jointly creating a cross-border logistics chain of "R&D and manufacturing in Wuhan - customs clearance at Alataw Pass - coverage of Asian and European markets". At the same time, taking advantage of the opportunity of the temporary opening of Hannan Port Area as a national first-class port, the supervision process of water-rail-road multimodal transport was optimized simultaneously, achieving "one declaration, one inspection, one release". Under the new model, the export of a single vehicle can save more than 1,000 yuan in comprehensive logistics costs.
The continuous optimization of the export product mix stands as the highlight of Hubei's automobile industry's expansion overseas. In the first quarter, the export volume of domestic self-owned brand automobiles in Hubei Province accounted for 75.1% of the total for the same period, marking a year-on-year increase of 101.9%, with a significant growth rate.
While accelerating the expansion of their own brands overseas, new energy vehicles are becoming a new growth point for Hubei's automobile exports. In Shiyan, Hubei, four enterprises in the automobile industry chain, which are mainly new energy vehicle enterprises, have obtained AEO certification, gradually forming a good demonstration effect of "certifying one, driving a string, and activating a region". In the first quarter of this year, Shiyan exported 9,111 electric passenger vehicles, with a value of 710 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 36.9%, showing a strong momentum of export growth.
New energy and domestic brands are making concerted efforts, driving the continuous release of the "new three products" effect. In the first quarter of this year, Hubei's exports of "new three products" reached 12.21 billion yuan, an increase of 152%, promoting the coordinated expansion of upstream and downstream industrial chains overseas.
The impressive performance in automobile exports is inseparable from the precise and targeted policy support and continuous service enhancement.
"Customs not only guides us to enjoy the policy dividends of RCEP, but also helps us solve the logistics bottleneck problems brought about by changes in the external environment through the 'Customs Director's Policy Delivery Service,'" said Yuan Lu, head of the Operation and Management Department of Dongfeng Import and Export Co., Ltd. Yuan said that the Customs' 'one enterprise, one policy' service gives enterprises more confidence to go global.
